Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Google account identifier — used to track your usage quota and link your subscription. We store only your Google user ID and email, not your full profile.
• Usage count — how many simplifications you've run this period, to enforce free/paid limits.
• Subscription status — whether you're on Free, Pro, or Max, managed via Stripe.

What we do NOT collect

• The text you submit for simplification is never stored on our servers. It is sent directly to Google Gemini for processing and discarded immediately after.
• Your simplification history is stored locally on your device only (in Chrome's extension storage). We have no access to it.
• We do not track browsing history, page visits, or any other activity.

Third-party services

• Google Gemini API — processes your text to produce simplified output. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google OAuth — used for sign-in. We receive only your user ID and email.
• Stripe — handles payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy. We never see your card details.
• Cloudflare — hosts our backend infrastructure. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Data retention

• Usage counters reset monthly (Free) or daily (Pro/Max) and are automatically deleted.
• Account data (user ID, tier) is deleted when you cancel your subscription and request removal.
• Local history can be cleared at any time from within the extension.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. To request deletion of your account data, email us at the address below.

Children

Distill is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be noted in the extension's update notes.
