A single hand-off needs no extra app
For one item, copy it on your iPhone, then paste into the destination app on your iPad or Mac. To keep several excerpts, open a note in Apple Notes and paste each one before copying the next. Add a short heading and the original URL so that you can identify it later.
Universal Clipboard is a way to transfer the current copied content, not a collection of everything you have copied. Apple says that the item remains available briefly, or until you replace it by copying something else on either device. A note turns that temporary hand-off into material you can return to.
If you only do this occasionally, Notes and ordinary copy-and-paste may be enough. You do not need FlowPocket just to make Universal Clipboard work.
01 · Connect your devicesCheck the Apple side first
- Keep the devices near each other and check that they meet Apple’s Universal Clipboard requirements.
- Sign in to the same Apple Account on both devices.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both, and make sure Handoff is enabled.
- Copy a short piece of plain text on one device, then promptly paste it into Notes on the other.
The setup and the temporary lifetime of copied content are described in Apple’s Universal Clipboard support guide. These conditions belong to Apple’s transfer feature. FlowPocket does not replace them and does not require a separate FlowPocket account.
02 · Keep it on the receiving deviceMove the useful copies onto a shelf
When a project involves more than one item, FlowPocket can act as the clipboard hand-off station between your own apps and devices. After copying on iPhone, go to FlowPocket on the receiving iPad or compatible Mac and tap Paste, allowing clipboard access when requested. You can also drag supported content into FlowPocket.
Automatic saving is off by default. If you enable it and allow clipboard access, FlowPocket can save copied content while the app is active in the foreground. Opening the app saves the current copied content only with automatic saving enabled and access allowed. It does not record an always-on background history.
Once an item is saved as a local card, the next copy does not overwrite that card, and the temporary clipboard lifetime does not remove it. You can keep several items, add titles and notes, and choose which one to copy or drag into the next app.
The card is stored on the device where you saved it. To keep the same excerpt on another device, transfer and save it there too. Each device keeps its own library; do not expect a common card list.
A hand-off you can repeat
Suppose you find a paragraph on iPhone while drafting on iPad. Copy the paragraph, paste it into the iPad’s FlowPocket, and add the source URL and a note about why it matters. Copy a second reference on your phone and save that on iPad too. The first card stays in the iPad library.
When you are ready to write, double-tap a card to copy it or drag supported content into the destination app. For a collection you want to give to an AI tool, use the separate Markdown materials pack guide. Markdown and ZIP export require Pro or Max; FlowPocket prepares the pack locally and does not call AI.
For research where quotations and attribution matter, keep the source URL and your own interpretation with each excerpt rather than relying on the copied passage alone.
Find where the hand-off stopped
- Try a fresh plain-text copy. Paste it promptly into Notes on the receiving device. If you copied something else in between, recopy the intended item.
- Check the setup again. Confirm the same Apple Account, nearby devices, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Handoff on both devices.
- Separate transfer from saving. If the text pastes into Notes but is not a FlowPocket card, the clipboard hand-off worked. Try Paste in FlowPocket and allow clipboard access. Automatic saving additionally needs its setting enabled and the app active in the foreground.
- Use Apple’s remaining steps. Apple recommends available software updates and restarting the devices if Universal Clipboard still does not work. Return to its support guide for current requirements.
A clipboard manager cannot repair Apple Account or Handoff setup by keeping a card library. Save important content on the source device as well while you investigate.
A temporary clipboard, a local collection
FlowPocket is useful if you repeatedly move text, links, images or files between your own apps and Apple devices, and want to choose which copies remain within reach. Notes may be simpler for a few items. This is not a shared cross-device card library, a background clipboard recorder or a permanent backup system.
Free holds up to 8 cards. Pro is a one-time purchase with unlimited cards, Markdown and ZIP export, 3 task presets and 1 custom template. Max adds unlimited custom templates, remembered export settings, and more colors and layouts. Check the regional App Store for prices.
FlowPocket requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. On Mac, it runs as an iPad app on M1 or later with macOS 26 or later. Keep important material separately: deleting a card or removing the app can remove local content.
Frequently asked questions
The details before you begin
Do I need FlowPocket to copy from iPhone to iPad or Mac?
No. Apple Universal Clipboard can transfer the current copied content by itself. Paste into the destination app, or into Notes if you want to keep it. FlowPocket adds a local shelf for the items you choose to save.
What must be enabled for Universal Clipboard?
Use nearby compatible devices signed in to the same Apple Account, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Handoff enabled on both. Copy on one device and paste promptly on the other.
Will my next copy replace a saved FlowPocket card?
No. Once saved as a local card, the item is separate from the current clipboard. Another copy does not overwrite that card. Deleting the card or removing the app can remove local content, so keep important material separately.
Does saving a card on iPhone put it in my iPad library?
No. Each device has an independent card library. Transfer the copied content and save it on the receiving device if you want a card there too.
Can I just open FlowPocket to save a transferred item?
Automatic saving is off by default. Opening FlowPocket can save the current copied item only after automatic saving is enabled and clipboard access is allowed, while the app is active in the foreground. You can also tap Paste.
Is export included in the free tier?
No. Markdown and ZIP materials pack export require Pro or Max. Free holds up to 8 cards. Check the regional App Store for purchase prices. FlowPocket does not call an AI service.
