Start with the tools you already have
For a small collection, open a note in Apple Notes. Paste each excerpt under a short heading, then add the page URL, its title and a sentence about why you saved it. Keep direct quotations separate from your own comments. This gives an AI tool more useful context than an unlabelled block of copied text.
If you copy on iPhone and work on iPad or Mac, Apple’s Universal Clipboard can pass the copied content to a nearby compatible device. Use the same Apple Account, turn on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Handoff, and paste promptly. The copied item is available briefly, or until another copy replaces it; save each excerpt before moving on.
You can paste the collected note into your chosen AI tool. To make a Markdown file, copy it into a plain-text editor, use headings such as ## Source 1, and save with an .md extension. There is no need for a clipboard app if this manual process works for you.
01 · CollectGive each useful snippet a place
When a project involves many snippets across apps, open FlowPocket and use Paste, or drag supported text, links, images or files into it. Save one useful item at a time so that you can choose what goes into the final collection.
Automatic saving is off by default. If you want it, enable automatic saving and allow clipboard access; it works while FlowPocket is active in the foreground. Opening FlowPocket can save copied content only after automatic saving is enabled and access is allowed. It is not a background clipboard recorder.
On iPad, a narrow Stage Manager or Split View window keeps the cards beside your work. On another device, paste transferred content into that device’s own FlowPocket library, or use foreground automatic saving with the setting enabled and clipboard access allowed. The libraries remain independent.
FlowPocket requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. On compatible Macs it runs as an iPad app: M1 or later and macOS 26 or later.
02 · OrganizeKeep the reason, not just the quotation
Add a title and a note to a card. Record the original page URL and the question the excerpt helps answer. A title helps you find the card later; a note distinguishes the author’s words from your own interpretation. Changing a title does not rename a saved file.
Select only the cards needed for one task. For example, collect three passages about a design decision, keep their source links, and ask for a comparison. Avoid mixing unrelated projects into a large pack: a small, labelled collection is easier for you to check.
FlowPocket does not perform OCR or extract text from PDFs. If you need the words from a PDF, copy selectable text yourself or use another tool to obtain it, and check the result. Keeping the original PDF as a file does not turn it into extracted text.
03 · ExportMake the handoff explicit
With Pro or Max, export one card or a selection as Markdown. Text and links go into the .md file. Titles, notes and recorded original filenames can be included, with optional sources and dates. An export cannot recover source information or a filename that was never recorded.
Choose a ZIP materials pack when you also need original images or files. Copy as Markdown contains text only. If your AI tool does not accept ZIP, extract the pack and provide the supported files separately. File acceptance and limits depend on that tool.
Add a task such as “Compare these sources,” or use one of FlowPocket’s task presets. Here is a simple structure you can also write by hand:
# Task
Compare the sources below. Keep quotations separate
from your interpretation. If the excerpts do not
support a claim, say so. Cite the source labels.
## Source 1 — Page title
URL: https://example.org/source
Excerpt: “Paste the passage here.”
My note: Why this passage matters.
## Source 2 — Another page title
URL: https://example.org/another-source
Excerpt: “Paste the second passage here.”
This is a hand-written example, not a promise of FlowPocket’s exact export formatting. Review the pack, then paste its text or provide supported files to ChatGPT, Claude or another tool you choose. FlowPocket does not call AI or send the pack automatically. Review what you share under the receiving service’s terms.
Check the answer against the saved excerpts and the original pages. Source labels make that review easier; they do not guarantee that an AI answer is accurate.
Where FlowPocket saves effort
FlowPocket is useful when you repeatedly collect material from several apps, want to keep context on separate cards, and need to export a selected group. It replaces repeated manual assembly with a reusable local shelf.
For a handful of passages, a note may be simpler. If you need an always-on clipboard history, one shared card library across devices, built-in AI answers or automatic PDF text extraction, this workflow will not provide those features. Keep important research in a separate archive: FlowPocket is a temporary shelf, and removing the app can remove its local data.
Choose a tier for the work you do
Free holds up to 8 cards. Pro is a one-time purchase with unlimited cards, Markdown and ZIP export, 3 task presets and 1 custom template. Max adds unlimited custom templates, remembered export settings, and more colors and layouts. Exporting an AI materials pack requires Pro or Max; consult the regional App Store for current prices.
Frequently asked questions
The details before you begin
How can I collect copied text without installing another app?
Paste each excerpt into Apple Notes, add its source URL and your own comment, and separate entries with headings. Copy the collected text into your chosen AI tool. For a Markdown file, use a plain-text editor to save the text with an .md extension.
Does FlowPocket automatically save my clipboard in the background?
No. Automatic saving is off by default. It requires FlowPocket to be active in the foreground, automatic saving enabled and clipboard access allowed. You can also tap Paste or drag content into the app.
Do iPhone, iPad and Mac share one FlowPocket card library?
No. Every device keeps an independent card library. Apple Universal Clipboard can transfer the current copied content between nearby compatible devices; it does not combine your FlowPocket libraries.
Is Markdown or AI materials pack export free?
No. Markdown and ZIP materials pack export require Pro or Max. Free lets you keep up to 8 cards. Pro is a one-time purchase with unlimited cards, export, 3 task presets and 1 custom template. Max adds unlimited custom templates, remembered export settings, and more colors and layouts. Check your regional App Store for prices.
Does FlowPocket call ChatGPT or Claude for me?
No. FlowPocket prepares materials and task instructions locally. It does not call an AI service or automatically send your content to AI. You choose the tool and provide the exported material yourself; that tool’s terms and privacy policy apply.
Can FlowPocket turn scanned pages or PDFs into extracted text?
No. FlowPocket does not perform OCR or extract PDF text. Copy selectable text yourself, or use another tool to obtain and check the text. ZIP export can include the original files, but acceptance and reading of those attachments depend on the destination AI tool.
